Business Programs:

Specialist Certificate - Business (6 - 9 months)

Program Description: The Specialist Certificate in Business prepares individuals to face administrative challenges encountered in today’s high-tech business environment.  The program is designed to provide the student with knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of information technology and popular business office software.  Students can then select a program track to focus their studies on either Administration, Accounting & Bookkeeping, Project Management, Legal Secretary, or Human Resources.

Technical Diploma - Business Administration & I.T. (11 - 15 months)

Program Description: The Technical Diploma in Business Administration & Information Technology introduces individuals to the functions and processes of a firm or organization and the use of technological information systems, including computing systems, as solutions to business and communications support needs. The program includes basic instruction in the principles of information technology, business office procedures and Microsoft Office application programs. The academic and professional skills taught during the program prepare the graduate to function in the business office environment utilizing Office applications and computer technology.

Associate of Applied Science - Business Administration & I.T. (19 - 30 months)

Program Description: The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration expands on the knowledge gained in the certificate programs by including instruction in the principles of marketing, customer service, business law and ethics, leadership, financial management and project management; including practical application utilizing Microsoft Project, and QuickBooks among other software. Completion of the course will prepare the graduate to function in a technology driven business environment.

Bachelor of Applied Science - Business Management (41 - 60 months)

Program Description: The Bachelor of Applied Science Completion Degree in Business Management in the Global Economy prepares individuals to face the management and administrative challenges encountered in the current high- tech global environment. The core courses in the program are designed to provide the student with the statistical analysis, economics, business law, accounting and finance knowledge and skills to identify and analyze business issues; the marketing abilities to develop functional solutions; and the management disciplines to implement and maintain those solutions. The general education components of the program augment these abilities from the courses in technical writing, business psychology, and safety and health in the workplace, to the indirect influences of political and environmental science.

MBA - Master of Business Administration (24 months)

Program Description: The Master of Business Administration (MBA) prepares individuals to face the advanced management and administrative challenges encountered in the current large scale and/or complex high-tech global organizations. The courses in the program are designed to provide the student with superior skills in online communications, leadership, marketing, information technology, operation management, and financial management needed to compete in the rapidly developing, highly competitive field of global business management. The Project and Operations Management concentration of the program prepares students to attempt the Project Management Professional certification exam, offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI.org)

Information Technology Programs:

Certificate - Information Technology (6 - 9 months)

Program Description: This certificate is designed to let students explore a range of information technology subjects before they decide on an area of specialization. The program is designed in a manner which allows graduates of the program to obtain marketable skills upon graduation of this program alone.  Each concentration contains courses, which are aligned with select industry certification exams offered by CompTIA® and Microsoft®, as indicated on the following page. All courses are transferrable into the Associate and Bachelor of Applied Science degree programs in Information Technology offered by ABTU.

Program Description: Offering both a Technical Diploma in Network Administration & Information Security or Computer Programming & Systems Design, these introduce students to IT concepts including hardware, business and productivity software, operating systems, networking, programming, and information security, and reinforces concepts and techniques through practical application.  Students are then well prepared to continue onto the Associate program, and can then choose a concentration to tailor the program to fit their educational and professional needs.

Associate of Applied Science - Information Technology Programs (19 - 30 months)

Program Description: The Associate of Applied Science in Network Administration & Information Security or Computer Programming & Systems Design programs introduce students to IT concepts including hardware, business and productivity software, operating systems, networking, programming, and information security, and reinforces concepts and techniques through practical application. Students can tailor the program to fit their educational and career needs by selecting either the Networking or Programming concentrations.

Bachelor of Applied Science - Information Systems Engineering (41 - 60 months)

Program Description: The Bachelor of Applied Science Completion Degree in Information Systems Engineering – Networking & Security program introduces students to IT concepts including hardware, business and productivity software, operating systems, networking, programming, and information security, and reinforces concepts and techniques through practical application. As student’s progress into advanced IT courses in database administration, systems architecture, and systems design, students can tailor the program to fit their educational and career needs by bringing concentration courses from associate and certificate programs into the elective category then selecting the networking concentration or other courses of interest to meet the program semester credit requirements.

Healthcare Programs:

Specialist Certificate - Healthcare (6 - 9 months)

Program Description: The Healthcare Specialist Certificate program provides the foundational skills and knowledge needed for students to enter the healthcare field or to add additional skills and credentials for those already working in the field. The knowledge and skills gained allow students to function as a productive and valuable member of the health care team. Students are stressed the importance of contributing to the wellbeing of the patient by demonstrating professional competency in their chosen specialty. All courses are transferrable to the Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Information Technology. Students who successfully complete the program are prepared to attempt one of the following industry certifications offered by the National Healthcareer Association.

Program Description: The Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology program prepares individuals to perform functions and processes in healthcare facilities related to managing, analyzing, and organizing patient medical records both electronic health records and paper-based health records. The primary program focus is ensuring the quality of medical records by verifying completeness, accuracy, and proper entry into computer systems. The graduate will demonstrate the basic understanding of the electronic healthcare record, medical law and HIPAA standards, insurance billing and coding practices, abstraction of data, general office duties, and customer service.

Vocational Programs:

Business Administrative Assistant (6 - 9 months)

Program Description: The administrative assistant training program provides students with the skills they need to prepare for a career in this rapidly growing field. Secretaries and administrative assistants perform a variety of clerical and administrative duties that are necessary to run an organization efficiently. They use computer software to create spreadsheets, interact with databases, and prepare presentations, reports, and documents. They also may negotiate with vendors, buy supplies, and manage stockrooms or corporate libraries.

Students have the option to add a career specialization track to their Administrative Assistant program, in the areas of Project Coordinator, Social Media Manager, Professional Bookkeeper, Human Resource Assistant, or Legal Secretary

Medical Administrative Assistant + Medical Billing & Coding (6 - 9 months)

Program Description: Medical Administrative Assistant + Billing & Coding Certificate program is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and skills required for entry level medical administrative assistant and billing & coding positions.  The program also is preparation for various certification exams that will improve employment prospects.  The program encompasses both general allied health knowledge (e.g. HIPAA laws and healthcare information, ethical standards, and effective communication) and technical knowledge and functions specific to the medical office environment.  Graduates should be prepared for all aspects of a medical office by receiving training for both Medical Administrative Assistant and Billing & Coding industry certifications offered by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA).

Program lengths shown vary based on the student’s rate of pursuit.  Students taking one course at a time can complete 8 courses per year.  Our accelerated schedule allows students to take a second course (but longer & slower paced) alongside completing 12 courses per year.
