Retroactive Completion Policy

ABTU understands and appreciates the unique challenges and life events that adult learners often face, as they pursue a college degree.  Thus, the Retroactive Completion Policy was developed to enable students to earn an ABTU credential, even when life interrupts the pursuit of their original degree program.

Retroactive Completion allows students who fail to complete their intended program, the ability to earn a lower level credential (Certificate), provided the student has satisfied all of the course and program requirements for the lower level credential.

Example: Jon enrolls in an Associates of Applied Science in Business degree program.  After completing roughly 60% of his program, Jon’s wife has a baby, and his job demands have interfered with his ability to keep up with course work.  Jon is unsure if or when he will be able to finish his Associate’s Degree.  Jon is frustrated that he invested a year of his time into education, and has no credential to show for it.

ABTU Solution: Through Retroactive Completion, Jon was able to apply the courses he did complete, to earn one of ABTU’s many certificates.  Jon now has a University level credential, validating to employers, the skills and abilities he developed during his time at ABTU.

Questions? Email registrar@abtu.edu

Students who complete all of the necessary academic requirements for graduation, but are not cleared by the Finance and Registrar’s office will have their student status set to “Pending Graduate” until all departments verify the student has met all conditions for graduation.
