College Holidays

American Business & Technology University recognizes ten (10) official holidays per year during which the students and the instructors/faculty and staff do not have classes or report for work.  These holidays are as follows:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day

For each holiday that falls on a regularly scheduled class, that class period must be made up within seven (7) days of the class missed.  For example, if a class period falls on Independence Day, the students, instructors/faculty and staff will have that day off.  Within seven (7) days, the instructor must hold a class period in order to make up for the lack of class on Independence Day.

This ABTU policy complies with the federal rules and regulations regarding Title IV Funding which requires the make-up of class time lost because of holidays.
