Dr. Smith earned a Doctorate in Education degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Missouri, Master of Science degree in English Education at Northwest Missouri State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in English from Truman State University. She has 26 years experience as an instructor. Dr. Smith also has 16 years as a mentor teacher, 15 years as a Department Chair and teacher leader, and 3 years leadership symposium. In addition, she has 3 years experience as a District Curriculum Coordinator, 22 years as a curriculum writer, and 16 years as a professional development presenter. Dr. Smith is a National Board Certified Teacher English Language Arts, a trained International Baccalaureate (IB) Instructor and Advanced Placement Instructor, and a trained ACT instructor.

Mr. Lute Atieh has been an integral part of the American Business & Technology University’s framework since its founding in 2001. As such, he has served internally in nearly every capacity while gaining extraordinary insight into what it takes to run a successfully innovative institution of higher education. During this time, Mr. Atieh has also made it a point to contribute externally beyond his primary duties by serving in many roles with other higher education organizations.

Lute has been honored to serve on the Missouri Department of Higher Education’s School Advisory Committee for a term of three years (2014 – 2016) and is a also a Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) Business Standards Committee Member where he also enjoys his role as a school site visit volunteer for the accrediting commission. In addition, Mr. Atieh proudly serves on the Board of Directors for The Missouri and Kansas Association of Private Career Colleges and Schools.

He has an educational and vocational background in business and technology. His passion for education and technology drives him in his daily pursuits is to use technological advancements to bring quality, convenient and affordable education to busy adults seeking skills training and educational advancement.

I am proud to be part of an extraordinary group of educators who care deeply about our students and work tirelessly to ensure their success. Educational Leadership is my passion and online education is my expertise. In my unique experiences I have gained extensive knowledge of higher education accreditation, strategic planning, compliance, curriculum, assessment, policy development & administration. In the past I have developed and managed admissions, registrar, and retention processes, as well as faculty and curriculum evaluation processes.

Currently, I administer annual outcomes assessment studies, state and federal accreditation reporting, and Satisfactory Academic Progress monitoring. As a Certified Microsoft Office Specialist, I have advanced skills in Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint as well as IBM’s SPSS and Adobe Acrobat Pro. I am well versed in the process of implementing and administering Student Information Systems with integrated Learning Management Systems and developing seamless digital document processes, workflows, student applications and academic review processes university-wide. Current research projects are in the areas of online student retention and achievement.
