Institution History

As the world grows more dependent upon new and innovative technology, entertainment, national defense & security, personal/global communications and technological skills become increasingly vital for personal and national economic survival.

A strong educational background helps provide job security in your chosen career field. American Business and Technology University (ABTU) is committed to providing our students with the skills needed to meet today’s ever changing, highly technical, workplace demands.

ABTU was founded in 2001 by Sam Atieh, with the principle to provide technical education that is career focused and delivered 100% online using live instruction.

American Business and Technology University’s Board of Directors has combined experience of over 100 years in the business and technology field. Each board member brings a unique and particular expertise to this institution.

Board of Directors includes:

Hyung Park – Mr. Park holds a JD from Loyola Law School, a MBA from the University of Minnesota, and
a BA in Business Administration from Sogang University. He is also a CPA and currently serves
as University President and CEO of Abraham Lincoln University. Mr. Park is also a partner in
Park & Kirwan Law & CPS firm practicing tax and business law. He has been the Director of the
Advisory Council to the Small Business Administration of the US, Director and Vice President of
the Local Development Public Corporation under Los Angeles Mayor, Tom Bradley and served
on the Board of Trustees of the Polytechnic School in Pasadena, California. He is the author of
numerous published articles and professional research papers.


Joshua Sung – Mr. Sung holds a BS/BA degree in Computer Science and Economics from the University of
California San Diego. He currently is an ERP consultant and manager with S-Metric, a Microsoft
Dynamics NAV partner company. His expertise is IT consulting. Mr. Sung has managed a
certified Microsoft Dynamics NAV Partner Company and worked at Arthur Anderson & ICON
International (AI company) & Microsoft (Microsoft Dynamics Division), prior to join S-Metric,
Microsoft Dynamics NAV partner company.


Justin Oh – holds an MS in accounting and BS in Economics. He currently serves as a CFO at St.
James Korean Catholic Church and Korean Real Estate Brokers Association of Southern
California, and Korea Daily Newspaper tax advisor. Mr Oh has expertise as a Controller/CFO
with over 15 years of extensive industry experience, including eight years of finance /
accounting management experience in distribution and manufacturing industry with Paco Steel
and LG Semicon. He successfully completed financing two Companies’ entire credit facility over
$20 million. He saved over millions of dollars by planning and implementing tax savings
strategies. To broaden his financial background, he has passed the licensing exam for
securities, and holds real estate & loan broker license and insurance license.


Jeff Chen – Dr. Chen holds a Ph. D. Degree in Mathematics degree from the University of Illinois at
Unbana/Champaign specializing in Group Representation in the field of Algebra. He taught and
did research at Pennsylvania State University. He also holds a Ph. D. Degree in Computer
Science, specialized in Numerical Computation methods. He had worked at the Super
Computing Center to developed large scale numerical parallel software codes for
supercomputers. For the last three years, he has worked with the English as Second Language
Learning team in China. The team is currently working with University of Texas at Austin to
develop online Learning/Teaching programs using the graduate students in TESL program at UT
Austin to teach young kids English in China. Dr. Chen has also worked on real estate
developments, specialized in commercial office building development, office building
managements. He loved to work on the construction sites to see the vacant lands becoming the
real buildings just like the drawing sets that he helped to design. One of his passion is to help high

school student learn mathematics and sciences and assists them in college applications.
Many kids were accepted into 7-year medical program or 7-year dental program as high school
kids. He never asks for any compensation. The reward to him is to see the kids becoming
successful in the fields they chose.


Lute Atieh – Lute was recently named as the CEO of the American Business & Technology University, where he has served in a variety of capacities since the inception of the school more than a decade ago.   He began by providing technical support for students and staff, and has worked in the admissions office, business office, student support, as well as overseeing all aspects of the information technology of the institution.  His responsibilities consist of overseeing the strategic and day-to-day operation of the 100% online university which recently expanded into live streaming short-term training in the fields of technology, business, and healthcare. In 2015 Lute was appointed to the Missouri Department of Higher Education’s Proprietary School Advisory Committee and still serves on this committee today, assisting in the development of Higher Education Policy in the region.

Learning Model – Live and Interactive!

American Business and Technology University developed a sophisticated, yet user-friendly, online delivery system that enables live interaction between the instructor and the students. ABTU’s model consists of live audio and video lectures led by an instructor and offered at specified times. The instructor conducts the lecture much like a traditional classroom setup: all students in the virtual class are able to participate and to ask questions online, hear the instructor, AND get immediate answers. Students are able to watch a visual presentation while they listen to the instructor’s lecture. American Business and Technology University is a DEAC Accredited Military Friendly Online University

Can’t make the online lecture? Don’t worry! Come to class any time!

The American Business and Technology University model provides the best of both worlds: synchronous and asynchronous communications. Classes may be replayed as often as desired. The ABTU model further provides an opportunity for students who cannot attend the live lectures at the specified times.
